Important Information

Dance Fees

If a student wishes to withdraw from a class, WRITTEN NOTICE must be handed into the office. A $25.00 administration fee will apply. Please allow 3-4 weeks before receiving any refunds/credits.

If withdrawing from all classes at Teknique, refunds will only be given as follows:

Before September 1st - Full refund. A $25.00 administration fee will apply.

Between September 1st - October 31st - November and January installments will be refunded. A $25.00 administration fee will apply.

Between November 1st - January 1st - January installment will be refunded. A $25.00 administration fee will apply.

After January 1st - No refunds will be issued.

An NSF fee of $25.00 will be charged for any returned cheques.

All costume balances will be invoiced separately.

No refunds will be given for missed classes due to student absence.

No discounts will be given to late registration. Full payment will apply as well as a registration fee of $25.00.

No registrations for our full season classes will be taken after October 31, 2026 for the 2026-2027 season.
 

Late registrations will not be pro-rated; full fee amounts will still apply.
 

All Payments will be required to be paid by the 1st of the month. Late fees will be applied for overdue payments.

All Mini Session payments are required to be paid upon registration and are non-refundable after the first day of classes. Any refunds issued before classes have commenced will be subject to a $25.00 administration fee.

Cancellations 

There will not be a refund or make up classes offered for any inclement weather-related cancellations. Every effort will be made to avoid cancelling a class. Please check your Remind App on days when weather is questionable as well as our social media accounts. Phone calls will no longer be made.

Dress Code 

All students at Teknique must follow a dress code. This is necessary as instructors need to clearly see the dancer's movements with her/his body. This is not only to ensure they are doing the step properly, but more importantly to avoid injury.

We will also issue a separate form indicating the shoes to be worn for each dance style (specific to the class and age of the child). Please be sure to have the proper shoes by the end of September. If the wrong shoes are purchased, you will be asked to return them and purchase the proper style for the specific class. (Please no lace-up shoes.) We do have Studio appropriate clothing for sale and that can be ordered. 

All Mini and Cutie students are welcome to wear a bodysuit, skirt, tights or socks. All classes require the student's hair to be neatly tied back into a bun or a ponytail.

Ballet
Any bodysuit, tights or ankle socks. Skirts may be worn in class. Hair in a bun.

Acro
Any bodysuit, crop top and dance shorts, no tights or socks. Hair in a braid. 

Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Musical Theatre
Dance crop top, bodysuit, dance shorts. Hair in a bun or ponytail. (Hip Hop instructors may ask for sweatpants.)​

Absolutely no t-shirts, sweaters, jeans, or pants are to be worn in any class.

No gum, food or candy is permitted into the studios and any drinks other than water bottles.

Costumes 

We offer fundraisers to help offset the cost. We also include proper tights in with the costume balance. Every effort is made to keep the prices of costumes to a minimum. A non-refundable costume deposit (after September 30) is required at time of registration.

Rules and Policies

​​

Only students are allowed in the studios unless the teacher has invited parents/guardians into class for viewing.

Students must always show respect to teachers and peers.

Teknique School of Dance is not responsible for lost or stolen items in the waiting room. Please leave your valuables at home and label all your dance items.

The studio reserves the right to cancel or combine any classes with less then six (6) students in the class.

The studio reserves the right to move any classes to a different scheduled time.

No outdoor shoes are to be worn past the entry way of the studio.

Competitions
All students who are eligible to compete, must fulfill the following two requirements:
 

• must enroll in a minimum of one ballet class a week (regardless of the method they have chosen to compete with)

• must also be enrolled in a stretch and strength class 
   

All students will attend their regular scheduled classes as well as their competitive classes.
 

Safety for All 

Children who are not dancing may not be left unsupervised at the studio. Students should be dropped off within
15 minutes of class start and not left unsupervised if under the age of 10. Students should be picked up within
five (5) minutes from class end times.

Studio Communications 
It is the responsibility of the parent to make sure they are receiving all newsletters and information given out by the studio. Please ask for the Remind App information as this is how we communicate updates and news.
